Now, blog, where to take you?

Not really sure where to go with this blog now. . . I really do love writing it so I am going to try to continue. But will it be a momblog? A crafty blog? A going green blog? I think it will be a collection of everything. A family blog. I have lots of ideas, but it will be much better if you chime in!

We're trying to decide whether to enroll Ella in ballet. She loved her ballet camp, and the same teacher has an opening that fits perfectly in our schedule. This particular studio has impressed me and I have no fear that she'll be dancing in a cut off top to Britney Spears. But when we're talking about that kind of money and time commitment, we really need to decide WHY. Why is it important for a 4 year old to take a class like that? Sure, it's fun, but, again the money and time thing. Will she be behind everyone else if she starts at 5? These days moms are driving their children from sports practice to music lessons to playdates--time to play at home is rare. I know this is in my future--does it need to start now? I fought these questions when we tried to decide about preschool. Why is it better for my child to be taken from her mother and put in school at 3 or 4? (For the record, we did decide it would be a good idea for Ella and the family to go to school 2 half-days a week). So, I want to know what you think. What do your children do at 4 (or what do you see them doing at four) and why?

I don't know what you should do. BUT...you'll get lots of really cute pictures. We love looking back at those silly things our kids were involved in when they were little and remembering how seriously they took it. It brings a smile and laugh now. You tend not to remember the everyday, but there's something about a a picture of a little munchkin prancing around in a tutu that takes ya back.

Good questions! I'm torn on the whole preschool thing too...it started when I worked (duh). And then we did it this year too because of Ryan's schedule. I need time to go to the dr, get my haircut, etc. But today I was thinking...WHY? Why this time away already? I would really like a one day preschool, a mother's morning out (which is what we had in Augusta) so that I could get somet things done. But so far, I haven't found anything like this in Savannah...
Sorry, no answers for ya. Just more questions. :)

Obviously I don't have a 4 yr old, but... you asked, what do you see your child doing at 4. I definitely see Christian involved in SOMETHING. I want him to have an activity that is his own and that he can gain confidence and learn how to interact more with other children in a focused setting. I think physical activity is so important and obviously healthy. Every child is different and I know I'm preaching to the choir here. While I tried 2 things (ballet and soccer) and one stuck (the soccer), my oldest brother only did soccer, while my middle brother tried every sport under the sun. If you have the money and the time fits perfectly into your schedule, which is a miracle, AND she loved the camp, I would say 'go for it'. That's just me, though. Either way you won't be scaring her for life. At least... I don't think.... ;-) JOKING! Love to the Curry family!

p.s. I like your idea about the family blog, but also leaving it open to other topics, such as your crafts and so on. Make it a SARAH blog... whatever you want to write about and discuss or share with whoever is reading. I know I'll enjoy it, no matter what you write. You have a gift. Ever thought about writing, you know... WRITING writing?

Suzy, I know your older ones were/are in everything--what about Lily? Will you do things any different with her? Thanks, y'all for all the comments!
